Note regarding magnetic mounted light bars:
Although we are constantly receiving enquiries for light bars with magnetic mounting systems we have, in view of the risks involved to the end-user and the general public in the event of the item becoming detached whilst the vehicle is in motion, decided not to supply this type of equipment. We realise that other companies make guarantees regarding stability, but we feel uncomfortable, as a market leader in the safety industry, dealing in light bars dependent on magnetic mountings due to the following factors which are outside our control:
- A driver may exceed speed restrictions applied to the product in emergency situations.
- Inadequate roof thickness on certain vehicles reduces magnetic adhesion.
- The condition of a vehicle roof, due to the presence of water, ice or road contamination may prevent satisfactory adhesion.
- Forces exerted when cornering, accelerating or braking may adversely affect magnetic adhesion.
- Headwinds, crosswinds and general turbulence will exert unpredictable forces on the light bar.
- The use of rubber or neoprene caps to prevent scratching of the vehicle roof reduces magnetic adhesion.
- We have yet to identify a reliable mechanism to prevent the light bar becoming detached from the vehicle in the event of the magnetic adhesion failing.
